Housing-

Apache%20Wickiup,%201903-500.jpgThe Great Basin Indians lived on wickups. Wickups are made of sticks, animal skins or grass mats. The sticks are used for the frame of a wickiup.The animal skins or grass mats, cover the sticks and keep warmth inside. They also would use willow branches with leaves, depnding on what was available.

Clothing-

In the summer men and children wore nothining, and women wore aprons. In the winter men wore pullovers and pants and the women wore blouses and skirts.

Food-

In the winter food was difficult to find. In the spring and summer the Great Basin Indians could find food easily. Some Indians ate sheep, so they were called sheep eaters. While others ate rabbit and pine nut, so they were called rabbit eaters. Many Great Basin Indians ate grasshoppers.

Recreation-

The Great Basin Indians ussally spend most of their days searching for food. But sometimes they play games.

Values-

The Great Basin Indians pray and bless the pinetrees to show their thankfulness to the earth for the food they eat.

Location-

The Great Basin Indians lived in a desert region. The climate was hrash with extremes of hot and cold. Also, there was very few rivers where these Indians lived.
